Bayside Hotel is a local hotel located on the edge of magnificent George's Bay within a short walking distance to centre of St Helens.
St Helens, nestled in the corner of the picturesque Georges Bay, is the largest town on the north-east coast and business centre of the Break O'Day municipality. The town is known as Tasmania's premier, coastal tourist township and the game fishing capital of Tasmania. Each March the St Helens Game Fishing Classic is the highlight of the year for locals and an increasing number of interstate visitors. Once known as Kunnara Kunna meaning "easy walking place", the area was home to many Aboriginal bands and has a rich history of Aboriginal heritage and cultural occupation. Ten minutes out of St Helens lies Binalong Bay and the Bay of Fires, one of Tasmania's most beautiful and popular beach getaways. The Bay of Fires extends to Eddystone Point and has white sandy beaches and giant granite boulders, popular also with divers because of its kelp forests and underwater caves.
St Helens is a fishing port sheltered by Georges Bay and St Helens Point, a long headland, 1,066 hectares (2,500 acres) of which is reserved as a public conservation area. The other side of the bay - Humbug Point - is also protected.
